Dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR)는 dihydrofolate를 tetrahydrofolate로 전환시켜 퓨린, thymidylic acid 및 특정 아미노산의 합성에 필수적인 효소입니다. DHFR 유전자는 염색체 5번에 위치하며, 여러 개의 intronless processed pseudogene이 다른 염색체에 존재합니다. DHFR 결핍은 거대적아구성 빈혈(megaloblastic anemia)과 연관되어 있습니다.
