The TBXT (T-box transcription factor T, also known as Brachyury) gene encodes an embryonic nuclear transcription factor that binds to a specific DNA element, the palindromic T-site. It acts through its N-terminal T-box domain to regulate transcription of genes essential for mesoderm formation and differentiation. The protein is localized to notochord-derived cells.
