Target Information
RFPL1, RFPL2, and RFPL3 (ret finger protein-like 1, 2, and 3) form a cluster of genes on human chromosome 22q12.2–q13.3, sharing 95–96% sequence identity. These genes are implicated in neocortex organization and development in primates, with high expression in fetal neocortex and during embryonic stem-cell neurogenesis.
RFPL2 (also known as RNF79) encodes a 378-amino acid protein highly expressed in prostate, with lower expression in fetal kidney and fetal liver. Two isoforms of RFPL2 exist due to alternative splicing.
