Target Information
PSAP is a highly conserved glycoprotein that serves as a precursor for four cleavage products: saposins A, B, C, and D. Each saposin domain is approximately 80 amino acids long with similar cysteine residue placement and glycosylation sites.
Saposins A–D localize mainly to the lysosomal compartment, facilitating the catabolism of glycosphingolipids with short oligosaccharide groups. The precursor PSAP protein functions as both a secretory and an integral membrane protein and exhibits neurotrophic activities.
