This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
This antibody has specificity for Human Merlin/NF2.
Target Information
NF2 encodes a protein, Merlin, that is similar to some members of the ERM family of proteins thought to link cytoskeletal components with cell membrane proteins. Merlin interacts with cell-surface proteins, proteins involved in cytoskeletal dynamics, and those regulating ion transport.
This gene is expressed highly during embryonic development, and in adults, in Schwann cells, meningeal cells, lens, and nerve.
Mutations in NF2 are associated with neurofibromatosis type II, characterized by nervous system and skin tumors and ocular abnormalities.
Two predominant isoforms and several minor isoforms are produced by alternatively spliced transcripts.
