Target Information
Histones are nuclear proteins essential for maintaining chromosome structure in eukaryotes. The nucleosome contains ~146 bp of DNA wrapped around a histone octamer composed of H2A, H2B, H3, and H4. H2A plays a key role in centromere assembly and gene regulation. The protein can be modified by acetylation and phosphorylation.
