Target Information

The de novo synthesis of pyrimidine nucleotides is essential for mammalian cell proliferation.
This gene encodes a trifunctional protein associated with the enzymatic activities of the first three enzymes in the six-step pyrimidine biosynthesis pathway: carbamoylphosphate synthetase (CPS II), aspartate transcarbamoylase, and dihydroorotase.
The protein is regulated by the MAPK cascade, linking activation of MAPK signaling to de novo pyrimidine nucleotide biosynthesis.
