Antibody detects endogenous levels of total LONP1.
Target Information
The LONP1 gene encodes a mitochondrial matrix protein belonging to the Lon family of ATP-dependent proteases. This protein mediates selective degradation of misfolded, unassembled, or oxidatively damaged polypeptides in the mitochondrial matrix. It may also function as a chaperone in the assembly of inner membrane protein complexes and participate in regulating mitochondrial gene expression and maintaining mitochondrial genome integrity. Decreased expression has been observed in a patient with hereditary spastic paraplegia. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified for this gene.
