Target Information

Oncogene ERBB4 (HER4) is a member of the type I receptor protein tyrosine kinase subfamily that includes EGFR, ERBB2, and ERBB3. ERBB4 binds and is activated by neuregulins and other factors, inducing various cellular responses such as mitogenesis and differentiation.
ErbB4 is a receptor for heregulin and mediates HGL-stimulated tyrosine phosphorylation of itself. It plays a key role in signal transduction regulating metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, apoptosis, and differentiation.
ErbB4 is predominantly expressed in several breast carcinoma cell lines and in normal skeletal muscle, heart, pituitary, brain, and cerebellum. Expression levels vary among different breast tumor cell lines, suggesting its potential role in certain malignancies.
