Target Information
The 5HT3A receptor gene encodes subunit A of the type 3 receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a neurotransmitter, hormone, and mitogen. This receptor is part of the ligand-gated ion channel superfamily and mediates fast depolarizing responses in neurons. Functional receptor activity typically requires heteromeric assembly of A and B subunits. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified.
