Product Specific Information

MN1010 recognizes normal Tau from human, rat, monkey, and bovine brain.
No cross-reactivity with PHF-Tau has been observed.
The epitope of this antibody has been mapped on human Tau between residues 194 and 198 (RSGYS sequence, Tau40 numbering).
MN1010 detects Tau with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 79 kDa.
This product is a Low Endotoxin formulation.
Purity is >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.


Target Information

Tau is a neuronal microtubule-associated protein predominantly found on axons.
It promotes tubulin polymerization and stabilizes microtubules.
The C-terminus binds axonal microtubules, while the N-terminus binds neural plasma membrane components, functioning as a linker protein.
Hyper-phosphorylated Tau forms paired helical filaments (PHF), the main component of neurofibrillary tangles in Alzheimer’s disease.
Hyper-phosphorylation impairs Tau’s microtubule binding, leading to neuronal degeneration.
Kinases involved include GSK-3β, PKA, CDK5, and casein kinase II.
Abnormal Tau is also found in Pick’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, corticobasal degeneration, and progressive supranuclear palsy.
