VPS37A 유전자는 VPS37 패밀리에 속하며, ESCRT-I (endosomal sorting complex required for transport I) 단백질 복합체의 구성 요소를 암호화합니다. 이 복합체는 유비퀴틴화된 막 단백질을 다중소포체의 내부 소포로 분류하는 데 필요합니다.
이 유전자의 발현은 간세포암에서 감소하며, 돌연변이는 상염색체 열성 경직성 하반신 마비-53과 관련이 있습니다. 관련된 유사 유전자가 염색체 5번에서 확인되었으며, 대체 스플라이싱된 전사 변형체가 보고되었습니다.
