Target Information
The TBL1X gene encodes a protein belonging to the WD40 repeat-containing protein family, which is involved in various regulatory functions such as signal transduction, RNA processing, gene regulation, vesicular trafficking, and cytoskeletal assembly.
This protein is a subunit of the corepressor SMRT (silencing mediator for retinoid and thyroid receptors) complex along with histone deacetylase 3.
The gene is located adjacent to the ocular albinism gene and may contribute to ocular albinism with late-onset sensorineural deafness.
Four transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been identified. The gene shows high similarity to the Y chromosome TBL1Y gene.
