Target Information
NPP4, also known as ENPP4 (ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase family member 4), is a 453 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that belongs to the nucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase family.
The gene encoding NPP4 maps to human chromosome 6p21.1 and spans approximately 16,736 bases. Chromosome 6 contains around 1,200 genes within 170 million base pairs and is associated with various diseases including early onset intestinal cancer, porphyria cutanea tarda, Stickler syndrome, 21-hydroxylase deficiency, maple syrup urine disease, and Parkinson’s disease (via PARK2 gene).
A bipolar disorder susceptibility locus has also been identified on the q arm of chromosome 6.
