Target Information

These receptors belong to the large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) arising from single coding-exon genes. They share a 7-transmembrane domain structure common to many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors and are responsible for odorant signal recognition and transduction. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome, and the nomenclature for these genes and proteins is organism-specific.
