Target Information

HMGN3 binds to nucleosomes, regulating chromatin structure and processes such as transcription, DNA replication, and DNA repair. It influences insulin and glucagon levels and modulates pancreatic gene expression related to insulin secretion. It regulates the glucose transporter SLC2A2 by binding to its promoter region and recruiting transcription factors including PDX1. It also regulates SLC6A9, a glycine transporter affecting synaptic glycine concentration in the CNS, and may play roles in ocular development and astrocyte function.
