Target Information
Myosin is a protein that interacts with actin in muscle and non-muscle cells. It consists of two identical heavy chains and four light chains.
Myosin molecules have two major regions: tails (rods) and heads. The tail region aggregates into filaments, while the head region interacts with actin and ATP.
Multiple forms of myosin heavy chains exist in skeletal, cardiac, smooth, and non-muscle tissues. In skeletal muscle, they are categorized as type I (slow twitch) and type II (fast twitch) depending on muscle function.
