Target Information
Myc is a proto-oncogene encoding a nuclear phosphoprotein involved in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation. It forms a heterodimer with MAX, binding to the E-box DNA consensus sequence to regulate transcription of target genes. Gene amplification is common in various cancers, and translocations are associated with Burkitt lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Translation can initiate from both upstream non-AUG (CUG) and downstream AUG start sites, producing two isoforms with distinct N-termini.
