Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the STAT5a protein from human, mouse, and rat, and reacts specifically with STAT5a without cross-reactivity to STAT5b or other STAT isoforms. Reactivity confirmed by western blotting using lysates from A431 (+/- EGF), NIH 3T3, MCF-7, and HeLa cells.
Target Information
STAT5 alpha is a transcription factor activated by cytokines and growth factors. It mediates responses to IL2, IL3, IL7, GM-CSF, erythropoietin, thrombopoietin, and growth hormones. Activation in myeloma and lymphoma (TEL/JAK2 fusion) is stimulus-independent and essential for tumorigenesis. STAT5 alpha induces BCL2L1/BCL-X(L) expression, contributing to anti-apoptotic functions. It plays key roles in reproduction, lactation, immune function, and somatic growth.
