Product Specific Information
Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
Specificity: GRIK1.
Target Information
Glutamate receptors are the predominant excitatory neurotransmitter receptors in the mammalian brain and are activated in various normal neurophysiological processes.
GRIK1 (also known as glutamate receptor 5) belongs to the kainate family of glutamate receptors, functioning as ligand-activated ion channels composed of four subunits.
GRIK1 is expressed in GABAergic interneurons of the hippocampus and participates in forming kainate receptor subtypes with GRIK2 and KA2.
Stimulation of GRIK1 leads to intracellular calcium release and activation of protein kinase C.
Excessive activation has been associated with psychiatric, neurological, and neurodegenerative diseases.
Multiple isoforms of GRIK1 exist and may undergo RNA editing within the second transmembrane domain, altering ion flow properties.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
