Target Information
ACKR1 (also known as DARC) is an atypical chemokine receptor that regulates chemokine levels and localization through high-affinity binding. Unlike classical receptors, it does not trigger signal transduction but mediates chemokine sequestration, degradation, or transcytosis.
ACKR1 is also referred to as an interceptor, chemokine-scavenging receptor, or chemokine decoy receptor. It binds inflammatory chemokines of both CXC and CC subfamilies, excluding homeostatic chemokines.
Additionally, ACKR1 serves as a receptor for multiple chemokines including CCL2, CCL5, CCL7, CCL11, CCL13, CCL14, CCL17, CXCL5, CXCL6, IL8/CXCL8, CXCL11, GRO, RANTES, MCP-1, TARC, and for malaria parasites P. vivax and P. knowlesi.
