Claudin 7은 클라우딘(claudin) 패밀리의 구성원으로, 세포 간 밀착 연결(tight junction)의 주요 막 단백질입니다. 이 단백질은 세포 간 공간을 통한 용질 및 수분의 자유로운 이동을 방지하고, 세포 극성 유지 및 신호 전달에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
Claudin 7의 발현은 다양한 암종(유방암, 난소암, 간세포암, 요로암, 전립선암, 폐암, 두경부암, 갑상선암 등)에서 차등적으로 나타납니다. 또한 대체 스플라이싱으로 다양한 isoform이 존재합니다.
