Target Information
EPHA5 belongs to the ephrin receptor subfamily of the protein tyrosine kinase family. Eph and Eph-related receptors are involved in developmental processes, particularly in the nervous system. Protein kinases transfer phosphate groups to substrate proteins, mediating signal transduction in eukaryotic cells and regulating metabolism, transcription, cell cycle, cytoskeletal rearrangement, movement, apoptosis, and differentiation. The tyrosine kinase group primarily regulates cell-cell interactions such as differentiation, adhesion, motility, and death. Approximately 90 tyrosine kinase genes have been sequenced, including receptor types (e.g., EGFR, EPH, FGFR, PDGFR, TRK, VEGFR) and cytosolic types (e.g., ABL, FAK, JAK, SRC).
