Target Information
Syntaxins are a family of proteins involved in the fusion of synaptic vesicles with the plasma membrane, showing broad tissue distribution. They contain carboxy-terminal hydrophobic domains that direct localization to specific intracellular compartments. Syntaxin 18 primarily localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and functions in transport between the ER and Golgi. It also plays a role in ER-mediated phagocytosis by regulating specific fusion between ER and plasma or phagosomal membranes.
