Target Information
Heme oxygenase는 heme 대사에 필수적인 효소로, heme을 biliverdin으로 절단하며 biliverdin은 biliverdin reductase에 의해 bilirubin으로 전환됩니다. 또한 carbon monoxide를 생성하는데, 이는 신경전달물질 역할을 할 수 있습니다.
Heme oxygenase 활성은 heme 및 다양한 비-heme 물질에 의해 유도됩니다. 이 효소는 inducible isozyme인 heme oxygenase-1과 constitutive isozyme인 heme oxygenase-2로 존재합니다. HMOX1과 HMOX2는 heme oxygenase 계열에 속하며, 여러 가지 alternative splicing을 통해 세 가지 서로 다른 isoform을 생성합니다.
