BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with mouse and rat (100% homology) and human (93% homology) based on the immunizing sequence.
Target Information
ASCL1 (also known as ASH1) is a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor required for early nervous system development.
It is expressed in the fetal brain and is essential for the development and survival of subsets of autonomic neurons.
ASCL1 interaction with MEF-2A may regulate gene expression critical for neuronal circuit formation in the CNS.
High ASCL1 expression in neuroendocrine tumors such as medullary thyroid cancer and small cell lung cancer makes it a useful marker for cancers with neuroendocrine features.
The human ASCL1 gene maps to chromosome 12 and contains a trinucleotide repeat region, making it a potential candidate for inherited disease studies.
