Target Information
Cytokine receptor signaling is negatively regulated by the SOCS (Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling) family, which includes eight members: SOCS-1 through SOCS-7 and CIS. These proteins contain an N-terminal variable region, a central SH2 domain, and a C-terminal SOCS box motif. SOCS proteins form a negative feedback loop that regulates cytokine signal transduction via STAT-induced transcription, inhibiting signaling in various ways once expressed.
