배경 정보
This gene encodes the erythropoietin receptor, a member of the cytokine receptor family. Upon erythropoietin binding, the receptor activates Jak2 tyrosine kinase, which triggers multiple intracellular pathways such as Ras/MAP kinase, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase, and STAT transcription factors.
The activated receptor plays a role in erythroid cell survival. Defects may lead to erythroleukemia and familial erythrocytosis. Dysregulation can affect tumor growth. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
