Background
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the E2F family of transcription factors, which are crucial in controlling the cell cycle and mediating the action of tumor suppressor proteins. E2F proteins contain conserved domains including a DNA-binding domain, a dimerization domain for DP interaction, a transactivation domain enriched in acidic amino acids, and a tumor suppressor association domain.
