Background
A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) are a group of structurally diverse proteins that bind to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA) and localize the holoenzyme to specific cellular regions. AKAP14 anchors PKA in ciliary axonemes and may regulate ciliary beat frequency. Alternate transcriptional splice variants encoding different isoforms have been characterized. (RefSeq, Jul 2008)
