Background
Cathepsin G는 peptidase S1 단백질 계열에 속하며, 호중구의 azurophil granule에 존재합니다. 이 단백질은 chymotrypsin C와 유사한 특이성을 가지며, 병원체의 살균 및 소화, 염증 부위의 결합 조직 재형성에 관여합니다. 또한 S. aureus 및 N. gonorrhoeae에 대한 항균 활성을 지니며, 대체 polyadenylation 신호를 이용한 transcript variant가 존재합니다. (RefSeq, Sep 2014)
