Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge if not clear after standing at room temperature. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid; dilute only prior to immediate use.
Anti-Papain antibody is an IgG fraction purified from monospecific antiserum by delipidation, salt fractionation, ion exchange chromatography, and dialysis against the specified buffer. Immunoelectrophoresis shows a single precipitin arc against anti-Biotin, anti-Goat Serum, and purified Papain (Carica papaya). Cross-reactivity with Papain from other sources may occur but is not determined.
Target Information
Papain is a protease derived from papaya fruit (Carica papaya). It hydrolyzes peptides with broad specificity, preferring large hydrophobic amino acids at the P2 position. Synthesized as an inactive 40 kDa precursor containing a 107-residue N-terminal pro region and a 26-residue signal peptide.
