Target Information
Tyrosine phosphorylation plays a key role in transducing mitogenic signals from transmembrane receptors and in transformation by oncogene tyrosine kinases. Phosphorylation of specific tyrosine residues is a major mechanism of signal transduction during normal mitogenesis, cell cycle progression, and oncogenic transformation. Its involvement in differentiation and gap junction communication remains an active area of research. Antibodies recognizing phosphorylated tyrosine residues are essential tools for studying tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins and related biochemical pathways. The fluorescein (FITC) conjugate of clone PY20 anti-phosphotyrosine is particularly useful for detecting P-Tyr proteins in immunohistochemical and immunocytochemical protocols where secondary antibody use may complicate detection.
