Target Information
Villin is part of the cytoskeleton associated with the microvillar actin core bundle of gastrointestinal and renal brush border. It interacts with actin in a Ca²⁺ and phosphoinositide-regulated manner. Villin serves as a specific marker for adenocarcinomas of the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas, and is also expressed in some Merkel cell tumors and adenocarcinomas of the lung, prostate, ovary, and kidney.
