BRI3 (brain protein I3), also known as pRGR2 or I3, is a 125 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein.
The gene encoding BRI3 maps to human chromosome 7 (~158 million bases), which encodes over 1000 genes and constitutes about 5% of the human genome.
Chromosome 7 has been linked to:
- Osteogenesis imperfecta
- Pendred syndrome
- Lissencephaly
- Citrullinemia
- Shwachman-Diamond syndrome
Deletions of portions of the q arm of chromosome 7 are associated with:
- Williams-Beuren syndrome (characterized by mild mental retardation, friendliness with strangers, and an elfin appearance)
- Various myeloid disorders including acute myelogenous leukemia and myelodysplasia
