Target Information
Collagen IV is a major structural component of the basement membrane in tissues such as the kidneys, lungs, and skin. It forms a network-like scaffold providing mechanical support and stability. Collagen IV consists of three alpha chains encoded by the COL4A1, COL4A2, and COL4A3 genes. Mutations in these genes are associated with disorders including Alport syndrome and Goodpasture syndrome, affecting renal and pulmonary function.
