Target Information
Granzyme B is a member of the granzyme serine protease family found in the granules of cytotoxic T cells and NK cells. It is also known as CGL1 and CTLA-1, expressed in activated cytotoxic T-lymphocytes. Granzyme B is essential for inducing apoptosis in target cells through caspase-3 activation and DNA fragmentation. It interacts with mannose 6-phosphate receptors to trigger cell death and can also activate mitochondrial apoptosis via Bid protein cleavage. Granzymes are neutral serine proteases stored in specialized lytic granules of CTLs and NK cells. Multiple granzymes have been identified in mice, while fewer have been cloned in humans.
