Target Information
Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxykinase 1 (PCK1) is a key enzyme regulating gluconeogenesis. It acts as a rate-limiting enzyme controlling the conversion between oxaloacetate and phosphoenolpyruvate depending on glucose levels. PCK1 also regulates metabolic intermediate levels in the citric acid cycle and influences lipogenesis through AKT1-mediated phosphorylation. It plays a role in the regulation of memory CH8(+) T-cells. An important paralog of this gene is PCK2.
