DDX50은 리보솜 RNA 합성 또는 가공에 관여할 수 있는 DEAD box 효소로, DDX21(RH-II/GuA)과 유사한 유전체 구조를 가지며 염색체 10번에 인접해 존재합니다. 이는 진화 과정에서 유전자 중복으로 발생했음을 시사합니다. DDX50 유전자는 염색체 2, 3, 4에 유사유전자를 가지며, 대체 스플라이싱을 통해 여러 전사체 변이를 생성합니다.
