Target Information
ZEB1 (Zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox 1)
Acts as a transcriptional repressor and inhibits interleukin-2 (IL-2) gene expression. It modulates promoter activity of ATP1A1 gene depending on cDNA quantity and cell type. Represses E-cadherin promoters and induces epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) via SMARCA4/BRG1 recruitment. Also represses BCL6 transcription with CTBP1 corepressor. Positively regulates neuronal differentiation and represses RCOR1 transcription during neurogenesis. Mutations can cause corneal dystrophy, posterior polymorphous corneal dystrophy, and Fuchs endothelial dystrophy.
