Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the CFP10 (Rv3874) protein of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium bovis.
Recommended for Western Blot under reducing conditions.
Target Information
Tuberculosis is a chronic bacterial infection and remains one of the leading causes of death among young adults worldwide. Mycobacterium tuberculosis enters the alveoli via airborne transmission and is engulfed by alveolar macrophages but resists destruction.
It is believed that M. tuberculosis survives by preventing fusion of the phagosome and lysosome. As the bacteria accumulate, they form tubercles, spread to lymph nodes, and cause systemic infection.
Although treatments exist, multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains of M. tuberculosis pose a significant public health threat.
