Target Information
The collapsin response mediator protein (CRMP) family (also known as ULIP6) comprises neurologic proteins involved in growth cone guidance during neural development.
CRMP5 shows relatively low sequence homology with other CRMP members and is expressed in the developing nervous system, peaking during the first postnatal week.
Elevated CRMP5 autoantibody levels are associated with paraneoplastic autoimmune optic neuritis and other paraneoplastic syndromes.
Autoimmunity against CRMP5 (mainly N-terminal epitopes) is also studied as an oncological marker in the respiratory system and thymus.
