Target Information
T-cell mediated immune responses are initiated by T lymphocytes stimulated by peptides bound to MHC molecules on antigen-presenting cells (APC). Activated T cells express receptors such as PD-1 (PDCD-1), which mediate inhibitory signals from APCs. PD-1 interacts with ligands PDL-1 and PDL-2 to inhibit immune activation in the absence of danger signals. PD-1 knockout mice exhibit hyperactivated immune systems and autoimmune phenotypes. PD-1 often migrates at higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE than predicted.
