Target Information
The VAX1 gene encodes a homeo-domain containing protein belonging to the homeobox transcription factor family, conserved across vertebrates. These genes regulate body development and morphogenesis. The VAX subfamily, located near the EMX homeobox gene family, includes members involved in the development of the anterior ventral forebrain and visual system. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
