Target Information
The 5HT4 receptor gene belongs to the serotonin receptor family, which are G protein–coupled receptors that stimulate cAMP production in response to serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine). The encoded protein is a glycosylated transmembrane receptor functioning in both the peripheral and central nervous systems to modulate neurotransmitter release. Multiple transcript variants with distinct C-terminal sequences have been identified, though not all full-length variants are characterized.
