Target Information
TWEAK is a member of the TNF family and was first described as a weak inducer of apoptosis in transformed cell lines. A receptor for TWEAK, known as TweakR, was isolated by expression cloning from a HUVEC cell cDNA library.
TweakR is a small protein belonging to the TNF receptor superfamily and can initiate a proliferative signal by binding to TRAF1, TRAF2, and TRAF3.
TweakR mRNA is upregulated during tissue regeneration in the aorta and liver and may play a role in vascular cell migration and angiogenesis.
