Target Information

MUPP1 (multi PDZ domain protein 1, MPDZ) was discovered as an interacting partner with the 5-HT2C receptor and co-localizes with 5-HT2A and 5-HT2C receptors in various regions of the mouse brain, including the choroid plexus.
It contains 13 PDZ domains without catalytic activity and is concentrated in tight junctions of polarized epithelial cells. MUPP1 binds to claudin-1 and junctional adhesion molecule (JAM), functioning as a scaffold protein that recruits various proteins to tight junctions. It also interacts with claudin-8 and may contribute to tight junction barrier function.
