Target Information
STING (TMEM173) is a 379 amino acid signaling protein involved in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-kappa-B and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce type I interferons (IFN-α and IFN-β), establishing an antiviral state. STING may act as a translocon influencing interferon induction and mediating apoptotic signaling via MHC-II association. It is located in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues.
