이 유전자는 type I adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide receptor를 암호화하며, 막 결합 단백질로 glucagon/secretin receptor 계열과 높은 상동성을 가집니다. 이 수용체는 adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide 1의 다양한 생물학적 작용을 매개하며, adenylate cyclase에 양성 결합되어 있습니다. 두 개의 엑손의 대체 스플라이싱으로 네 가지 주요 스플라이스 변형이 생성되지만, 그 전체 길이는 밝혀지지 않았습니다. PACAP receptor type 1은 adipose, adrenal, bone, brain, colon, ganglion, heart, lung, ovary, pancreas, placenta, spleen, uterus 등 다양한 조직에서 발현이 보고되었습니다. ESTs는 brain 및 nerve 라이브러리에서 분리되었습니다.
