Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the CARD protein family, characterized by the presence of a caspase-associated recruitment domain (CARD). CARD domains are protein interaction motifs involved in activation or suppression of caspase family members, playing a regulatory role in apoptosis.
CARD9 interacts selectively with the CARD domain of BCL10, a positive regulator of apoptosis and NF-kappaB activation, functioning as a molecular scaffold for assembling a BCL10 signaling complex that activates NF-kappaB.
Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed, though their full-length sequences are not fully defined.
